Clipper combs: scissor effect, speed and teddy-bear finishes

Seminar with Sarah Odette Genova

Long coat, soft volumes and a result that looks scissored: with clipper combs it is possible, but technique makes the difference.

Without knowing the secrets, you risk steps, cutting marks and repeated passes that slow you down. At the Master Show, Sarah, a true artist of this technique, will make a skill as valuable as it is complex clearer and more accessible.

She will show how to achieve an even teddy-bear effect, avoiding steps and imperfections, and how to combine different lengths to build volumes, transitions and blending directly with the clipper.

She will explain when to work with or against the grain, how to choose lengths and how to keep even 3–4 centimetres of coat, depending on texture and intended use.

She will also cover the differences between slide-on combs, for compatible finishing clippers, and snap-on combs, for A5 system blades, clarifying when to choose each system. Special attention will be given to the clipper and motor performance: not all machines are equally effective with combs.

A seminar not to be missed to speed up commercial work, handle more dogs per day and achieve neat finishes with a scissored look.

Brussels Griffon: from stripping to expression

Seminar with Marco Marastoni

An unmistakable head, an intense gaze, an almost human expression: in the Brussels Griffon, every grooming detail helps bring out the breed’s identity.

In this seminar Marco Marastoni will share his in-depth knowledge of the breed, showing how to interpret its structure and enhance its character through precise, thoughtful stripping.

At the heart of the demonstration is building the head: working the skull and cheeks, blending into the ears, balancing beard, moustache and eyebrows. Lengths and volumes become tools to frame the eyes, enhance the very short muzzle and preserve the lively expression that makes the Griffon so special.

The work will continue on the body: selecting the mature coat, managing the undercoat, enhancing the harsh texture and red colour, stripping the neck, shoulders and body, and balancing the legs and rear.

An opportunity to learn to see the Griffon through a specialist’s eyes, understanding how every technical choice defines proportions, naturalness and breed type.

Cocker Spaniel: stripping, technique and breed lines

Seminar with Alessandro Pascoli

Very common in grooming salons, the Cocker Spaniel is one of the most demanding breeds to groom: it requires knowledge of the coat, precision and sensitivity in enhancing its proportions.

At the Master Show, Alessandro Pascoli, a leading specialist of the breed, will show how to groom to the breed standard, building harmonious and natural lines.

The seminar will cover:

  • Coat assessment: recognising coat textures and conditions to choose the right procedure.
  • Stripping and plucking: coat selection, removal technique and work on the different areas.
  • Undercoat management: removing the wool while preserving the topcoat.
  • Use of tools: which tool to choose and when to use it.
  • Head and muzzle: clipping reference points, limits and transitions to enhance the expression.
  • Cat foot: execution and finishing.
  • Lines and finishing: where to use scissors and where to work by stripping only.
  • Cosmetics: choosing the most suitable products for the grooming goal, both for coat maintenance and for grooming preparation.

The approach will mainly follow the breed standard, with brief notes on commercial grooming: differences, alternative equipment and possible adaptations to salon needs.

An opportunity to understand the logic of each step through Alessandro Pascoli’s expertise and gain more confidence in grooming this fascinating and technically complex breed.

Jack Russell Terrier: stripping, character and coat management

Seminar with Tony Rago

Common in grooming salons, the Jack Russell Terrier may seem simple to groom. Giving it back the expression, sturdiness and character of a true terrier, however, requires attention to lines and knowledge of coat regrowth.

At the Master Show, Tony Rago, a leading specialist in stripping and coat preparation, will show how to enhance this breed through technique, observation and work planning.

Some of the topics we will cover:

  • Line and expression: proportions, outline and details that define the Jack Russell’s breed type.
  • Stripping without breaking the coat: recognising a coat that is ready and removing it correctly.
  • Choice of tools: when to use different stripping knives or the pumice stone, even with a woollier coat.
  • Colour and texture: enhancing the markings and preserving the characteristics of the coat.
  • Preparation and regrowth: differences between a client’s dog, groomed every three months, and a dog prepared for shows.
  • Coat recovery: how to approach a previously broken coat, guiding its regrowth.

The Jack Russell will be the star of an in-depth look at the different coat phases, with criteria and techniques that also apply to other stripping breeds.

Asian Style: proportions, flared legs and mushroom head

Seminar with Aliof Rilova Tano, known as Alì

More and more clients are asking for Asian cuts: sweet expressions, teddy-bear volumes and shapes that bring out the dog’s personality. But a recognisable Asian style requires precise proportions, symmetry and control of lengths.

At the Master Show, Alì, a leading Asian style specialist, will show how to build a complete outline, adapting it to the dog’s structure and coat texture.

He will start from the contrast between a short body and voluminous legs, explaining how to choose measurements, set transitions and create flared legs that open gradually towards the foot. Attention will be paid to clean lines and scissor finishing, for soft surfaces without cutting marks.

The star will be the mushroom head: a wide top volume, like the cap of a mushroom, to be balanced with a rounded muzzle, cheeks and ears. Alì will show how to define the outline, open up the eyes and control the width and height of the head relative to the body, preserving the sweet expression typical of the Asian style.

With simple explanations and practical references, he will make a complex technique more accessible, offering a concrete method for offering these cuts in everyday work.

Cat special: Persian and Maine Coon, techniques and handling compared

Seminar with Giulia Caponi

Two different coats, two approaches to grooming and one common goal: enhancing the cat while respecting its needs and calm.

At the Master Show, Giulia Caponi, a leading feline grooming specialist, will bring a Persian and a Maine Coon to show in practice how preparation, bathing and finishing change according to coat texture.

A technical session full of practical tips: how to approach, support and handle the cat, recognise signs of discomfort and organise the work even when working alone, understanding when assistance is needed.

Through a bathing demonstration, Giulia will explain handling, choice of cosmetics, cleansing, rinsing and drying, showing how to achieve a clean, light, combable coat and help limit the formation of mats.

Special attention will be given to the differences between the two breeds, to enhancing the facial expression and to the selective removal of dead coat, including gentle finger plucking where appropriate.

A valuable and long-awaited event, dedicated to a field still rarely covered in seminars: for those who already work with cats and for those who want to approach cat grooming with greater skill and awareness.

All seminars will be held in Italian.
